About the Project

This project seeks to boost clean energy adoption in Jordan’s rural municipalities by applying modern construction methods (MMC), upskilling professionals, and creating a knowledge-sharing network through leveraging partnerships with Australian academics and industry experts for collaboration and expertise. Jordan is shifting towards clean energy due to rising energy demand, high fuel prices, and climate concerns, but rural areas still face unsustainable energy practices, with buildings being major energy consumers. In 2016, Jordan’s residential sector consumed 43% of total energy, underscoring the need for energy-efficient building designs. This project aims to promote clean energy use in Jordan’s rural municipalities by upskilling construction professionals in sustainable, low-carbon design innovations. Key objectives include enhancing the capacity of Jordanian professionals in sustainable practices, developing a roadmap for reducing greenhouse gas emissions through modern methods of construction (MMC), and establishing a knowledge-sharing network with Australian research partners. The project will collaborate with Jordan’s local industry associations and Australian educational institutions to deliver training, share best practices, and launch a website to showcase case studies. The initiative will lead to individual skills development and broader economic, environmental, and societal benefits.
