The University of Melbourne (UoM) is well placed to lead this project. The proposed program takes advantage of both the expertise which exists within the University of Melbourne’s School of Design, and our combined reputation as a leader in research and training in the Built Environment. The University of Melbourne is an internationally recognised university with a strong tradition of excellence in teaching, research and research training and community engagement. Established in 1853, it is Australia’s second oldest university. The University’s national and international performance confirms its position across a broad range of disciplines, and independently published world rankings consistently place it as the leader in higher education in Australia, the Asia Pacific and around the globe. The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning (ABP), incorporating the Melbourne School of Design (MSD), is a creative and people-oriented built environment faculty in Australia’s leading research-intensive university. Through our unique breadth and transdisciplinary focus, we carry out creative, fundamental and applied research projects into the past, present and future of our built and natural environments. Our research makes real and lasting impacts and critically informs the teaching of future generations of practitioners, researchers and designers.
